Acrylic Makeup Organizer – Best Organization Tool Ever

Once upon a time, I had a large makeup collection. However, after suffering with depression and not wearing makeup for a long time, I had to throw a lot of it out. Thus, I’m left with a small collection, and for the longest time I had no idea how to organize my makeup. Solution: an acrylic makeup organizer!

So, you can probably imagine I was pretty thankful when some gifts I received this past Christmas were makeup organization tools, including a lovely black acrylic makeup organizer!

To be honest, I was initially unsure about these products because I didn’t know how to feel about the acrylic material. Whenever I looked at these products online, I never committed to purchasing them because of that. But, to my pleasant surprise, they actually look amazing in person.

With that being said, let’s get into the product breakdown so I can show you how I organize my small makeup collection, and hopefully provide some inspiration for you on how to slay your makeup organization game.

Acrylic Makeup Organizer

Originally I was hesitant about using a plastic makeup organizer, however after trying it, I love it! It's super easy to clean and the black colour is really sleek, in my opinion. This organizer has definitely made my morning routine much more effective (versus having everything aimlessly in a bin!). Read on if you want to learn more about this makeup organizer.

This lovely black acrylic cosmetic organizer fits all of my makeup perfectly. Plus, it still has tons of extra space (especially if I properly organized the contents of the drawers haha). It comes in a colourless acrylic variant as well, if you don’t think the black would match your colour scheme. However, I personally love the black and think it’s super sleek! (Again, I wasn’t sure if I would like it, but I actually quite enjoy it).

The overall quality of this organizer is excellent. The plastic is also thick and durable. For size reference, the bottom drawer can fit the Urban Decay Naked Smoky Palette, with a tiny bit of room left length wise. (Lots of room left in terms of depth).

There’s so many things to talk about with this organizer that I really love. I don’t know where to start.

Separate Pieces in the Acrylic Makeup Organizer

Something I think is excellent if you want some customization options is that this organizer is separated into 3 pieces as shown below:

If you're like me and can't make your mind up, I definitely think you'd enjoy this makeup organizer (I know I've been enjoying it!). It can be separated into three pieces, or it can be assembled as one large organizer. It's super versatile and looks great too. Keep reading if you want to learn more about it! ^-^

The pieces can stand separately on their own, or you can assemble them together as I’ve done in the first picture. They stick to each other very well and I can’t see them slipping as each piece has four grippy, rubber feet. So, you basically get three makeup organizer units for the price of one!

Drawer Variety

As you can probably see, this organizer has quite a bit of drawer variation. It has 6, equally sized (relatively small) drawers that work well to fit a few products each. I’ve personally tried to separate products in my small drawers by makeup location (eyes, face, etc.).

In addition to 6 small drawers, this makeup organizer has a wider drawer with the same depth as the small drawers, and a large depth drawer. These drawers would be excellent for palettes of similar size to Urban Decay Naked palettes, however I personally have a separate organizer for my palettes. (More on that shortly!). I use the deeper drawer to store items that don’t fit in the smaller drawers such as my eyelash curler, and more bulky makeup products.

Velvet Lining

Another thing I love about this makeup organizer is that each of the drawers comes equipped with a black velvet lining. This was another pleasant surprise as I’ve never had a makeup organizer that came pre-lined! The lining really helps prevent products from sliding in the drawers. It’s also easy to clean with a damp cloth. The linings are also removable so you’re free to replace it with your own if you want.

Versatile Top Section

Something else I enjoy about this makeup organizer is the versatility of the top section. It includes a pretty standard lipstick organizer, which has nine slots and fits MAC lipsticks quite well. There’s also three additional lipstick slots on the left side.

It also has additional slots that could be used for a variety of makeup products. I like to put my larger bottled makeup products (e.g. foundation, MAC Fix Plus, etc.) in the square area. There’s another section that fits a MAC blush-duo palette perfectly as well.

The current available models have slight variation in the top section, namely they don’t have the three lipstick slots on the left side. It looks like they’re all compiled on the right side instead. (12 on the right side in rows of 4, instead of 9 in rows of 3 and an additional row of 3). So, if you’re planning on purchasing, just make sure to verify you’re okay with the top section variation!

One Last Note on the Acrylic Makeup Organizer

Although there are tons of things I love about this acrylic makeup organizer, there is one small thing that bugs me. The drawers have no stopping mechanism, so sometimes if you pull them too far out they come out! Luckily, they easily slip back in.

This definitely isn’t a deal breaker for me since I love everything else about it, but I thought I would let you know!

Vertical Palette Organizer

Another winner for me in terms of makeup organization! This colourless acrylic 9 slot palette organizer has been super helpful in terms of keeping my palettes organized. Previously, they were all simply thrown into a bin.

I swear, using a makeup palette organizer has changed my life. (Okay, a bit dramatic, but - ). I used to throw all my palettes in a giant bin and it was a huge pain trying to find anything. This simple plastic organizer has made all the difference for my morning routine (and it's super cheap too!). Keep reading if you'd like to learn more about it. ^-^

With this product being so inexpensive, I wasn’t sure what the quality would be like. However, I’d say it’s actually pretty good! It easily holds my heaviest palettes and it fits perfectly beside my acrylic makeup organizer.

If you have shorter palettes, you could arrange them horizontally instead of vertically like mine, however I have some pretty long palettes so that took up too much space.

Horizontal palette orientation

Brush Organizer

In terms of my makeup brush organizer, I’d say it’s pretty standard! I’ve actually had it for a really long time. I believe I got the materials from the dollar store. All you need is some sort of glass jar and beads or stones of your liking.

If I was to make a new one, I’d probably choose an apothecary jar (currently obsessed with these things, they’re so gorgeous), and some clear crystal stones!

Basically, all I use to organize my relatively small makeup collection is an acrylic makeup organizer, a palette organizer, and a makeup brush holder. Having my makeup products actually organized has made getting ready so much easier in the morning. Previously all my makeup was stored aimlessly in a bin, and it was a pain to find anything. I’m really enjoying my new setup and I hope these ideas were helpful or inspirational for you!

If you try or already own any of these products (or you have an alternative cool makeup organization setup), I’d love for you to share it with me in the comments!

Thank you so much for reading. <3
